+ is Reiki a massage?

Reiki is not a massage.
However, like a massage reiki can be very relaxing!
It differs in that it does not involve firm contact or the manipulation of muscles or joints.
As reiki is working with energy rather than the physical anatomy of the body it is given with the hands off or gently placed on the body instead.

+ Do I need Reiki?

Many people chose Reiki healing for a variety of reasons. It can assist greatly with anxiety, low energy, trouble sleeping or feeling generally emotional, unbalanced or stuck.
Reiki is wonderful for your general wellbeing and can be a great way to treat yourself when you are feeling positive too! It is fantastic in creating clarity to help you get motivated and moving.

+ What are the benefits of reiki?

Reiki can heal and promote wellbeing both physically and emotionally. Although everyone's experience with reiki is different general benefits felt by most people are deep relaxation, a sense of wellbeing, balance and a clarity of emotions.
Physically, it can relieve tension in the body assisting with stress relief, anxiety, energy levels and sleep.

+ What can I expect in a private session?

A one to one session will last for about 60 min with a little time either side for a chat.
I can answer any questions you may have and explain a little about reiki and what it is you wish to get out of the session. I create a comfortable environment where fully clothed you receive the treatment laying down or seated.
After a brief guided meditation to quieten the mind and ground you in your body, I begin the reiki session by scanning the body placing my hands on areas I feel are needing energy or physical tension cleared.
During the session I will incorporate sound with crystal singing bowls to bring you deeper into a relaxed state.
After the session we can chat through your experience if you wish and answer any questions you may have. You may then float off taking the feeling of grounding, clarity and strength into your everyday life.

+ How will I feel after?

Everyone's experience and each session can very different, how you feel after will vary too.
You may feel relaxed or very energised, a weight lifted or a sense of clarity.
You may experience a settling or a release of emotions for the next day or two. It is Important that you drink plenty of water and be very gentle and kind to yourself after your session.

+ How many sessions do I need?

A single Reiki session can do incredible things for the mind and body.
However, if there is a larger issue you are wanting to work through I would suggest 3 or so sessions to truly allow yourself to work through and get to the bottom of it.
A bit like exercise, the more time you give to your mind and body the deeper and more long term the results will be. Regular sessions are a wonderful way to really treat yourself and maintain a good balance and wellbeing in your life.

+ What do I need to bring?

Nothing at all, just arrive with yourself, in comfortable clothing with a curious and open mind.

+ Is Reiki safe?

Yes, Reiki is very safe.
You are very much in control of your session and how deep you wish to go. As the practitioner I simply hold a comfortable space for you to explore as far and wide as you wish. Reiki is extremely gentle and works on a very subtle level.
It is very safe to do in conjunction with medication and is a very positive complementary therapy with talking therapies or recovering from more serious health issues.
Although a wonderful complementary therapy, It should never be considered a replacement treatment for a serious mental or physical illness.

+ Can I have Reiki if I am pregnant?

Yes, reiki is very gentle and safe to practice during pregnancy. Reiki relaxes your body on a deep cellular level, reducing stress internally in the body and restoring a physical and emotional balance.

+ I can't or don’t meditate, will Reiki work?

Reiki can be a great introduction to meditation and mindfulness.
However, you certainly do not have to be familiar with meditation or consider yourself spiritual to experience or benefit from it. If this is all a bit new to you, simply think of reiki as a “deep rest for your mind and body!”

+ Are you qualified?

Yes, I am a Reiki III certified Master and I am fully insured by Arthur J. Gallagher to practice Reiki in australia.
